JISD Bus Information for 2013-2014 School Year

Welcome back Students and Parents to a new school year!!!!!

Transportation of students in a safe and timely manner is the highest priority of the Team here at the Transportation Department of Jarrell ISD.

We provide bus transportation to and from school as a courtesy service for students residing in the Jarrell ISD.

We have adopted procedures and rules for all children while riding the School Bus that also includes the restrictive measures for violations of the rules. We are asking for your assistance in developing their knowledge about these procedures, rules and violations. The Student Bus Riding Handbook can be reviewed by clicking on the link below.

If you should have any questions or concerns about your child/children’s experience as a bus rider, the bus he or she will be riding or the route, please call the Transportation Department at 512-746-4860.

Respectfully,

Jackie Ivicic

Volunteers Needed at JISD for School Based Truancy-Diversion Program

Letter to Community from JISD Superintendent, Dr. Bill Chapman

Dear Cougar Country,

I hope each and every one of you have enjoyed your summer break, and are ready for what the new school year will offer you!

This has been a busy summer in Jarrell ISD.  Our administration and principals have been hard at work to hire quality instructional personnel to round out our already stellar staff.  Our maintenance and custodial staff have been preparing our buildings, structures, and classrooms to be ready for our students. The technology department has been reconstructing the entire district network to allow every staff member and students better internet access.  Our teachers have been attending trainings and workshops to be more effective in their classrooms to assist each and every child to achieve their goals!  And by the way, have you noticed the construction on 5th Street and Avenue C?

This also will be a year of change.  We have over 25 new teachers to the district, so please take the time to learn more about these new members of our JISD family.   Our JHS staff will stay up on the coming graduation plan changes so that we may instruct our students and parents on the new routes to college graduation.  In addition, we will educate students and parents on the new STAAR EOC changes that have taken effect immediately.  Finally, we are still growing in Jarrell ISD.  We ended the 2012-2013 school year with 1082 students.  We anticipate opening the 2013-2014 school year with about 1200 students. This is due to the growing housing market in the Jarrell area.  All of us at Jarrell ISD are proud to be an important part of this growing and vibrant community.

We will continue to provide a quality instructional setting and educational experience for each and every student in the Jarrell Independent School District which will provide them choices and opportunities upon graduation.

Please feel free to contact me or any member of the JISD administrative team with any issue that may arise.  We are here to assist you as needed.  Please make sure to “like” our Facebook page, as we will continue to use that as a means to communicate quickly to parents and community members.

I wish each and every student, staff member, parent, and community member a wonderful school year, and as always GO COUGARS!

William R. Chapman, Ed. D.
Superintendent
Jarrell Independent School District
